Wiseburn Watch Releases Petition Results – Jan 2018

We the people of Los Angeles County unincorporated community of Wiseburn CA 90250 want the Hawthorne Airport to end the practice of commercial and private aircraft flying over our city. This has increased dramatically the last year and a half. This is the area bordered by El Segundo Blvd to the North, Inglewood Ave to the East, Rosecrans Ave to the South and La Cienega Blvd to the west. There is a flight plan in place that diverts some takeoffs to turn south at Hawthorne Blvd and head south. This would be ideal to apply to all flights both VFR and IFR registered flights. We request that the FAA and the Hawthorne Airport select that departure policy as the standard. The increased noise and pollution are unhealthy. An example of this is the 6AM take off by jets. It’s not right to force disproportionate environmental impacts on our community to relieve another.
Again we request the flights over Wiseburn be redirected south paralleling Hawthorne Blvd to the south.

I’ve lived at my Wiseburn home for 20 years. The noise from low-flying planes is now much louder than at any time in the past. This is not acceptable.

There are 3 major concerns that I have. Noise, safety, and health. To better make a case for my argument, I’ve included several articles regarding studies of people living near airports that can explain everything better than I could. https://www.nhs.uk/news/lifestyle-and-exercise/living-near-an-airport-may-be-bad-for-your-health/ https://cleanair.camfil.us/2017/08/16/living-near-airport-matter-life-death/ https://www.belmarrahealth.com/living-near-airports-may-putting-risk/ http://theconversation.com/aircraft-noise-at-night-linked-to-high-blood-pressure-79397 Even if the the noise and health wasn’t a factor, safety is also a huge concern. In the event of the need for an emergency landing or god forbid just a crash, the local residents have absolutely no way of protecting ourselves. If Disneyland is a no fly zone, I don’t see why we can’t either.

The noise has increased greatly. I have lived in my home 31 years. I was raised in El Segundo, so I know what it’s like to try to sleep next to one of the largest US Airports. I’m hearing planes at increasing hours and an increasing numbers of planes in Hawthorne.

The jet noise is loud and they rattle my windows. Flying south along Hawthorne Bl. will show great collaboration and cooperation from the airport which the community will appreciate. Thanks!

The increase in air traffic has caused excessive noise and added toxic air pollution to our neighborhood. Please change the flight path to the suggested route down Hawthorne Blvd. Thank you for your consideration.

Because we bought in a quiet neighborhood not expecting jets and extremely loud airplanes so many days to fly over our home and rattle our windows and leave back tary spots on our cars and have to raise volume on TV about 5 decimals to hear it!! Cannot even have a conversation face to face without having to stop until aircraft passes!! Cannot hear on phone when jets flying over. They leave an odd odor in the air!! Very annoying!! I would not have moved here over 30 years ago knowing that this was going to happen!!

I live north of Hawthorne Airport, in the mornings and in the evenings, the engine sounds from the airplane’s sound as if I live north of LAX. Something needs to be done about this problem before it gets any worse.

After a long day of work I like to come home to quiet. If we don’t put a stop or limit to the air traffic now it will get much more worse.

There has been a significantly greater noise factor annually. This is most exacerbated over the summer and fall seasons as ambient temperature increases. Rather than inure towards it as one might expect it has reached an untenable level.

Our neighborhood is already pretty noisy. The additional airplane noise impacts our quality of life in our neighborhood. In addition to the risk of a potential accident.

I am a doctor and don’t need to be awakened late at night by planes flying repeatedly over my house. Or early in the morning and being awakened. Not to mention the plane fuel and pollution we are now exposed to. I have lived here for since 1978 and this is the worst ever!!!

When I bought my house, one of the things I liked about the neighborhood was how quiet it was. Now sometimes it’s so noisy we can’t hear each other talk. The planes fly so low I’m afraid one of these days one will go down into a home.
